About Our Reviews
When we came up with this directory, we were thinking about which restaurants we might recommend to a friend, whether a seasoned local or a first-time visitor. Since great food, vibes, and representation of the local foodscapes are our primary criteria, some of the restaurants we include are not what would typically be considered “kid-friendly” — they may not have kids menus or coloring books or even a highchair in sight — but in all cases they are places we think are worth bringing your family to anyway.
We’re giving you the lowdown on what facilities are available, which dining rooms are accessible with strollers, and where the restaurant does something special to make families comfortable, but we are also saying that it is totally worth navigating some of the ones where none of that is available.
Genuine hospitality and a warm greeting goes a long way and you may be surprised at how welcome your baby or toddler or somewhat grown-up kid might be in an upscale environment — or enjoying an impromptu picnic on a park bench.
We do recognize that every child (and each parent) reacts differently in a restaurant environment, so this site should help give you the tools to make the right decisions for your family.
