Why go? Named restaurant of the year by Bon Appetit, Aaron London’s new restaurant in the Mission, AL’s place features Northern California regional cuisine rooted in the produce and seafood of the Bay Area. It’s definitely worth the trip.
What to order? The fries are like no other fries you’ll ever taste: slightly pickled, creamy in the middle, crunchy on the outside – just awesome! Other highlights include the baby lettuces served on crushed avocado, the fregola in a pickled pea broth, the seasonal curry with cod, asparagus, pork belly and gazpacho.
Pipsqueak tip This is an unassuming 46-seat restaurant on a sleepy corner of San Francisco’s otherwise buzzing Mission District so be sure to grab a reservation (requesting high chair if needed). They don’t have a children’s menu but are super accomodating to kids and food allergies.
