Why go? One of the best Indian restaurants in the city, the dining experience here is varied as you can have small bites at the bar, family style dining in the main and even have chefs prepare a customized prix fixe menu.
What to order? At lunch people line up for the buffet, which is well priced and features all the expected favorites such as butter chicken and some more unusual items like curried goat. At night the menu is a la carte, and the food is more precisely prepared. We especially enjoy their cauliflower Bezule with coconut, curry leaves and mustard seeds; duck Tinka kebab with nigella, dill and caper chutney; and braised lamb shank with vindaloo sauce.
Pipsqueak tip Amber India SF is located in the heart of Union Square, the center of all the action in San Francisco. It is adjacent to Four Seasons, Marriott and Jewish community Centre and minutes walk from the Cable Car stand and Union Square – making it a great place to stop for lunch or dinner when downtown.
