Everyone sighs a happy sigh when you mention Blue Duck Tavern, remembering their last meal there with fondness. It’s upscale, but comfortable like a close friend’s living room, and the food is indulgent but real and comforting in the best way.
What to eat? The farm emphasis means the menu changes seasonally, but anything that comes roasted from their wood oven is a sure bet, like the whole fish, recently prepared with sunchoke romesco, or the side of whipped bone marrow and potato. And at breakfast, alongside your eggs, we must insist that you order their white corn grits.
Pipsqueak tip Early rising families (an unfortunately regular state of affair) will appreciate the 6:30am start for truly one of the best breakfasts in town. Their hospitality always extends to little ones, at our last meal here they gifted plush little blue ducks (of course) to each of the kids.
