Inspired by old Bombay’s Irani cafés, Dishoom sends out crowd-pleasing, aromatic Indian fare from its many lively London branches and actively encourages patronage of families with young diners. Children are urged to eat dishes from the main menu and share the plethora of small plates, kebabs or curries with the grown-ups, but the restaurant hedges its bets and offers a simpler ‘chote [little] dishoom-wallas’ menu, too.

Pipsqueak tip It’s heaving come 6pm, so head there for lunch if you don’t fancy languishing outside with every other Dishoom devotee.
