Why go? The handsome two-story interior has the feel of an upscale French brasserie, a pleasant reprieve from the hustle and bustle of Union Square.
What to order? Try one of the many well-prepared classics such as steak tartare, brandade croquettes, escargot, and a pristine house salad with butter lettuce and tarragon. For heartier fare, they also serve an excellent petrale sole, duck confit, steak frites and a vegetable terrine for non-meat eaters. And of course, you can also get a great hamburger with aioli on a brioche bun.
Pipsqueak tip If you are a sucker for French brasseries, then definitely give this a go. When we are in the neighborhood (downtown/ Union Square area), we love popping in this place during the week to grab some delicious Parisian cuisine. If you are there after the lunch crowd and before the dinner rush, you can snag a booth and pull up the stroller alongside the table (they only have booster seats, no highchairs).
