Why go? In the summer of 2012, Sarah Gavigan returned to her native Tennessee after almost 20 years in Los Angeles and found that Nashville was ramen-less. Gavigan lasted two ramen-less years before she decided to dedicate herself to learning the craft of making traditional ramen. After testing recipes with friends, she started doing pop-ups all over town with great success. In December of 2015 OTAKU RAMEN opened in the Gulch neighborhood of Nashville – and the rest, as they say, is history.
What to order? You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, even the snacks are delicious. If you can, try and go on a Sunday when they offer Japanese scallion pancakes, served how you like it.
Pipsqueak tip Your little ones will LOVE the different noodle combinations and rice bowls. PS They don’t have a kids menu but do offer kids size/ portion for all their ramen – perfect for smaller tummies!
