Why go? Established in 2006 by Town Hall, Anchor & Hope and Jersey Fine Foods brothers Mitchell and Steven Rosenthal, Salt House has been an integral part of the ever-evolving South of Market district for over a decade. Salt House offers a Contemporary American menu with international flair, highlighting Executive Chef Evan Gotanda’s focus on locally sourced, seasonal ingredients along with his background in Asian, French and Italian cuisine.
What to order? If you happen to be downtown for lunch, check out the Salt House Tacos and Roast Beef Sandwich. The dinner menu has many more options, including Korean Braised Short Rib, Papardelle and Salmon (all delicious!). We love ordering a bunch of small plates for the table to share. The popcorn, salmon belly, poutine, duck fat potatoes are all great starters, and your kids will love the pasta dishes!
Pipsqueak tip Salt House is just a couple blocks from Yerba Buena Gardens, SF MoMA and the Metreon – making it a great spot to hit up before or after your family excursions downtown.
