French brasserie meets McCarren Park, Sauvage is undoubtedly our go-to pick for an elevated meal in Williamsburg. The food is all delicious and executed simply, yet spectacularly. The appetizers offer lots of bright vegetables, while the mains showcase the likes of monkfish and duck with a seasonal flourish. The space feels like a classic French brasserie down to the tile floor and banquettes against the wall, suffused with lots of bright, natural light filling the space during the day, and romantic candlelight in the evening. It’s a perfect date spot when you have a sitter, but even if you don’t, the dark, cosy feel will keep your child calm, and even if not, this is Brooklyn so the waitstaff will go out of their way to help you, not give you dirty looks.
Pipsqueak tip It opens at 9am for an exquisite brunch on the weekends so if you are up early, definitely head here, and afterwards hit the swings in McCarren Park.
