If you enjoy food that’s as delicious as it is beautiful, The Optimist should be at the top of your list. This Ford Fry restaurant feels refreshing, with sky high ceilings and the tallest bar to match, showing off vast openness that still seems intimate. You just know you’re in for something exceptional upon arrival. And there’s always a little surprise in his restaurants. The Optimist doesn’t disappoint, with a Cape Cod style courtyard with — wait for it — putting greens, and 2 little toddler sized putters (among others).
What to eat? To start, we love the golden beet and strawberry salad served over creme fraiche, and the salmon crudo sprinkled with everything spice, surrounded by buttermilk and herb oil was fresh and light, but well seasoned and satisfying. They serve the most decadent lobster roll wrapped in buttery, toasted bread and dressed fabulously in aioli. Last but not least, the striped bass was expertly cooked, accentuated by crunchy skin and seasoned to a T.
Pipsqueak tip The kids menu includes fun fish camp favorites like popcorn shrimp and fish sticks, as well as a burger, chicken tenders and a veggie plate for $7.
