Why go? While the space is small, the menu is mighty. A sister restaurant to Paia Fish Market, Nuka is more subdued—but definitely no less tasty. They proudly mill their own rice and supporting local farmers and fishermen. In addition to supplementing the menu with Nuka’s own organically farmed fruits and vegetables, this hot spot aims to bring local and seasonal ingredients to the table as often as possible.
What to order? Sashimi platters, poke, bowls, specialty rolls (all sourced from local purveyors wherever possible) — it’s all delicious. We especially enjoyed the daily specials of tempura purple yams and furikake corn. Their miso cream pasta was a big hit with out little one!
Pipsqueak tip They don’t take reservations so be sure to arrive early/ before they open to snag a table without wait. Your kids are sure to enjoy the Asian french fries and Japanese friend chicken.
