This is no ordinary park café. A relaxed yet smart poolside pitch at the historic Brockwell Lido in Brockwell Park sets the scene for some seriously satisfying eating. Often rammed to the rafters, particularly for the popular breakfast and brunch menu, it’s worth booking ahead if you’re taking children.
What to eat? All levels of appetite are catered for, but comfort food is at the heart of the operation: huevos rancheros, bacon or sausage bun, scrambled or poached eggs for the brunchers, Lunch and dinner are hardly muted affairs, either: the dry-aged Longhorn beef burger sees to that.
Pipsqueak tip To reiterate, try to book ahead. They offer a lovely kids menu (available 9am–3:30pm) that kicks off with eggs and toast for breakfast, then follows up with pasta, homemade burger or free-range chicken for lunch (with unseasoned chips on request), with a fruit lolly or ice cream for pud.
